Appendix C: Web Server Configuration

Configuration for Netscape Web Servers

The mime.type file and the obj.conf file usually found in the following location:

Netscape Enterprise 3.51 - <dir>:\Netscape\SuiteSpot\https-machinename\config
Netscape Enterprise 3.0 - <dir>:\Netscape\suitespot\https-machinename\config
Netscape Enterprise 2.0 -<dir>:\\netscape\server\https-machinename\config
Netscape Fast Track - Same as Enterprise 2.0

The file mime.type should contain the following line:

type=magnus-internal/rpt exts=rpt
type=magnus-internal/cri exts=cri

The file obj.conf should contain the following line:

Init fn="load-modules" funcs="CrystalReportServer" shlib="<dir>:/Program Files/Seagate Software/Crystal Reports/crweb.dll

Also in obj.conf under the heading:

NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/viewer" dir="<dir>:/Program Files/Seagate Software/Viewers"
NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/scrsamples" dir="<dir>:/Program Files/Seagate Software/Crystal Reports/sample"
NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/scrreports" dir="<dir>:/Program Files/Seagate Software/Crystal Reports/Reports"
Service fn="CrystalReportServer" method="(GET|POST)" type="magnus-internal/rpt"
Service fn="CrystalReportServer" method="(GET|POST)" type="magnus-internal/cri"

If any of the above mentioned lines are missing from either the mime.types or obj.conf files respectively, Web Access will be unable to function under a Netscape Web Server. Once the installation of Crystal Web Reports Server is completed and you have re-booted your server, you will be required to enter your Netscape Administration Server Module and "Load Configuration Files" so that your web server recognizes the addition of the Web Report Server extension to your Netscape Web Server

Reports that you wish to view through your web browser need to have their data source(s) configured as System DSNs (Data Source Name). When installed under Windows NT the Crystal Web Report Server is installed as a service and acquires the rights of the account it was assigned to run under to use User Profile Resources.

The web server administrator will need to create system DSNs using the ODBC Administrator in order to access data.

Note If any of these lines are missing, the Crystal Web Reports Server will not display reports properly. Users will receive a dialog to download a file of unknown type, extension .RPT and be prompted to save it to disk.

Configuration for Microsoft IIS 3.0 & 4.0 Web Servers
